One of the most efficient ways to have a wonderful class. But, be careful. Not always the song your students want to listen and work will be the right one.
First of all they have to know about the translation. No translation! I mean that one we know, word by word, sentence by sentence, dictionaries (they love that, and it makes them to feel confident). Even in our mother tongue, there are lots of songs with some sentences that seems without sense for us. Two important things: choose a song to work the subject they are learning at the moment. And explore the song, do listening exercises, vocabulary work, make questions, make them to think and speak about the song subject, and so on. Here is one of my prefered songs to work in my classes: (I don’t worry if they say it’s an old fashioned song 😉 )
